Welcome. I’m glad you found your way here.

I offer trauma-transformative, queer-affirming, and culturally responsive counselling — grounded in presence, care, and a deep belief in your wholeness.

Registered Therapeutic Counsellor #4040

NESS Murby

I believe mental health is part of our wholeness — not separate from who we are, but woven through every part of our lives.

I specialise in queer-affirming, trauma-transformative counselling, supporting people navigating intersectional realities, marginalisation, and the layered impacts of trauma. I work alongside people to explore their stories, identities, what’s present now, and what may be unfolding ahead.

My approach is collaborative and relational. I believe you are the expert in your own life, carrying deep knowledge about who you are and what you need. There is no single path to healing — it is often winding, shaped and reshaped over time. I offer a steady, supportive space where you can show up fully — with questions, uncertainty, and life’s beautiful mess — and be met with care, curiosity, and respect.

Image Description: Close-up portrait of NESS. He is angled slightly toward the camera, wearing a broad, kind smile and appearing at ease. He has a high-fade haircut and a neatly groomed full beard. NESS is dressed in a grey T-shirt and black square-framed sunglasses. His left ear features a large black disc stud in the lobe, with two small silver hoops above it.

I’m a parent to two kids. I’m also a queer, blind, mixed-race, white-presenting trans human who transitioned later in life, an Australian, and an immigrant settler living on Coast Salish territory. Wearing sunglasses is an expression of my blind identity.

I love puzzles, long walkabouts, and black coffee — small practices that help me reset and reconnect. They remind me that we all deserve spaces to simply be, in stillness or in motion, and that healing often happens in the everyday.

As an immigrant settler, I recognise and respect that I live, strive, and thrive on the traditional, ancestral, and unceded territories of the Coast Salish peoples, in settler-called British Columbia. I am grateful to the caretakers and stewards of these lands and waters, and to the enduring contributions of these peoples across generations. My learning is ongoing, informing my ways of being, my role, and my responsibilities in this work.
